Last Night 03:01
Last Night Thank you for dreaming with me last night God heard our prayers I know He did We’ve been married a few years now Cats, hamsters, dogs and grown up kids Thank you for making dreams come true Beginning when I first laid eyes on you Your eyes deeper than the sea Each year more beautiful to me When I wake up in the morning And find you there beside my shoulder I thank God for another day Together as we both grow older When I wake up in the night And hear you breathing next to me I think of all our time together Of every perfect memory Thank you for laughing at my jokes Though most of them do not deserve it Thank you for holding close my heart And working so hard to preserve it Thank you for going for this walk I love the way you hold my hand The way you turn to me and smile How ‘bout we go another mile When I wake up in the morning And find you there beside my shoulder I thank God for another day Together as we both grow older When I wake up in the night And hear you breathing next to me I think of all our time together Of every perfect memory Thank you for dreaming with me last night

Milkweed & Helicopters Felt you kicking in your mama's womb I suppose you may be needing room Looking forward to meeting you soon Milkweed and helicopters flying in the wind I'll do the best I can to help you grow Try to teach you what you need to know Give you all the love that's in my soul Milkweed and helicopters flying in the wind There's so much I want to say I suppose we still have time I hope one day that you will understand Life seldom turns out quite the way we plan But God still loves you and He holds your hand Milkweed and helicopters flying in the wind There's a lifetime ahead of you Though we don't know how long or what you'll go through To be loved and to feel the pain To lay in the sunshine and walk through the rain The day will come when you will say good-bye For everyone there comes a time to fly And you in turn will learn to answer why Milkweed and helicopters flying in the wind There's so much I want to say I suppose we still have time Felt you kicking in your mama's womb I suppose you may be needing room Looking forward to meeting you soon Milkweed and helicopters flying in the wind

When I Was Younger Can’t say I always used good sense when I was younger There always seemed to be in me a restless kind of hunger Sometimes wonder that I’m still alive today Bet you could say the same In your own way So, I give thanks for everyday That I’m blessed to live I will not for granted take What I have to give Cause I’m a boy from Missouri raised in the hills And you better believe there’s a part of me still That’s runnin’ through the woods, laughin’ in the wind Stackin’ up bales as fast as I can Weedin’ strawberry’s, splittin’ up wood Grandpa said, ‘Terry, are you feedin’ him good?’ Grandma used to bounce me up and down on her knee Yeah, that’s just about all there is to me Momma helped me catch fireflies and to look up at the stars Dad taught me how to fix things and he bought my first guitar More important than anything they taught me how to pray To the God who sent His Son to save, gave His life Rose from the grave So, I give thanks for everyday That I’m blessed to live I will not for granted take What I have to give Cause I’m a boy from Missouri raised in the hills And you better believe there’s a part of me still That’s runnin’ through the woods, laughin’ in the wind Stackin’ up bales as fast as I can Weedin’ strawberry’s, splittin’ up wood Grandpa said, ‘Terry, are you feedin’ him good?’ Grandma used to bounce me up and down on her knee Yeah, that’s just about all there is to me <harmonica break> So, I give thanks for everyday That I’m blessed to live I will not for granted take What I have to give Cause I’m a boy from Missouri raised in the hills And you better believe there’s a part of me still That’s runnin’ through the woods, laughin’ in the wind Stackin’ up bales as fast as I can Weedin’ strawberry’s, splittin’ up wood Grandpa said, ‘Terry, are you feedin’ him good?’ Grandma used to bounce me up and down on her knee Yeah, that’s just about all there is to me

In Him 04:06
In Him Looking back at where we’ve been and what God's brought us through I can see it is by Him that we stand where we do Many times we have prayed together wondering could this last forever I would like to share my life with you Would you like to share your life with me We don’t know where God may lead us Still we know that we can trust in Him Tender tears and gentle spirit, a smile that sets my heart to flight In your eyes I can see His presence, overwhelmed by the holy light Love you give so kind and patient, always trusting, always hoping I would like to share my life with you Would you like to share your life with me We don’t know where God may lead us Still we know that we can trust in Him There’ve been times when I have wondered There’ve been times we both were scared Now I find no room for fear, His perfect love alone is what we share We can be certain this is the right time, His assurance for a lifetime I would like to share my life with you Would you like to share your life with me We don’t know where God may lead us Still we know that we can trust in Him We don’t know where God may lead us Still we know that we can trust in Him In Him, we can trust in Him I would like to share my life with you

Life So Far 03:10
Life So Far When you were two years old I looked at you Brown hair blowing over eyes of deep blue Lifted you up, sat you down on my knee And I looked in the eyes that were looking at me, and I said What do you think about life so far Are you doing all right, do you think you’ll go far Is life treating you fine like shade in sunshine Tell me what do you think about life, about life so far When you were twelve years old I looked at you Riding your horse under skies of deep blue You stopped to rest in the shade of a tree And I saw in the distance you waiving to me,I wondered What do you think about life so far Are you doing all right, do you think you’ll go far Is life treating you fine like shade in sunshine Tell me what do you think about life, about life so far Life gives us the chance to choose our own path To walk or run free Time moves us along, love makes us strong And faith helps us see There will be days in your life filled with pain God brings the sunshine and God brings the rain Wherever you are close your eyes and you’ll see Me waiving to you as you’re waiving to me, singing What do you think about life so far Are you doing all right, do you think you’ll go far Is life treating you fine like shade in sunshine Tell me what do you think about life, about life so far

There Is Someone Did you ever make a fool of yourself Left your principles folded on a shelf Have you ever tried to find what you chose to leave behind Did you ever wonder is there something else Did you ever hear a whisper telling you You’re not good enough for what you need to do Have you ever stood and listened to the life you were missin’ Did you ever wonder why each day starts new There is someone who believes in you There is someone who’s love is always true There is someone watching over you There is someone who believes in you Did you ever hurt somebody that you know Said you’d be there, but then you didn’t show Have you ever tried to run from things that you had done But you didn’t know the way you should go Did you ever laugh so hard it made you cry Ever lost someone you loved and asked God why Have you ever stood in wonder at the stars that you stood under As they stretched across a dark and endless sky There is someone who believes in you There is someone who’s love is always true There is someone watching over you There is someone who believes in you

Kansas City 03:58
Kansas City Remember our two bedroom flat at 41st and Clark Doing laundry down on 39th street sometimes until dark A booth down at Lucille’s where we let the music play Before she burned Rode my bike to school through the snow and in the rain You’d drive off to work and never did complain Your face on my mind every second every hour of every day Flowers that bloom in the spring cannot compare With your eyes sapphire blue Blessed be the place your love found me there Kansas City led me to you Kansas City brought me home to you Moved on out to Raytown and we were living well With a washer and a dryer, barbecue on the grill Walking ‘round the Ray South track, baby in a pack And another who soon was on her way Time and places come and go like leaves in the fall This one truth remains the same forever through it all Your face on my mind every second every hour of every day Flowers that bloom in the spring cannot compare With your eyes sapphire blue Blessed be the place your love found me there Kansas City led me to you Kansas City brought me home to you <guitar break> Flowers that bloom in the spring cannot compare With your eyes sapphire blue Blessed be the place your love found me there Kansas City led me to you Kansas City brought me home to you

The Ten Commandments God gave the Ten Commandments to the Israelites So we would know for certain what is wrong and right So lend and ear and listen to what the Bible says As I (we) submit to you this humble paraphrase One! You shall have no other gods before Me Two! Don’t make an idol out of gold or carve it from a tree Three! Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God Four! Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy Five! Honor your father and your mother Six! Do not murder your sister or your brother Seven! Don’t go lovin’ someone else’s honey Eight! Do not steal someone else’s money Nine! Do not lie or give false testimony Ten! Do not covet your neighbor’s dog, her bicycle or pony Now if you will remember the words here in this song The Bible says that you’ll live well and your days will be long

Still Be There Well he said how are you and you smiled in reply You knew he wasn’t asking, he was only saying hi But you think about the question ‘cause at times you’d like to die And you wonder why you feel so cold Yeah, you wonder why you feel so cold You remember when you once had dreams You remember when you used to care There was hope in your heart or at least it seems And you wonder could you find it there Yeah, you wonder could it still be there Well they say she drove away and you guess that much is true All you know for certain is she’s no longer with you And the pain just keeps on coming every morning like the dew And you wonder why you feel so cold Yeah, you wonder why you feel so cold You remember when you once had dreams You remember when you used to care There was hope in your heart or at least it seems And you wonder could you find it there Yeah, you wonder could it still be there <harmonica> You tried Jesus for awhile like you try on an old shirt It felt good for awhile ‘till you left Him in the dirt Now it’s skin to the wind as the chill begins to hurt And you wonder why you feel so cold Yeah, you wonder why you feel so cold You remember when you once had dreams You remember when you used to care There was hope in your heart or at least it seems And you wonder could you find it there Yeah, you wonder could it still be there

2035 03:33
2035 What will the world be like in twenty thirty five Will we still be free or even be alive I don’t know what I will do Only know I want to spend each day I have with you What will music be like then I do not know What kind of tunes will play on the radio Will the president still throw out the game ball Or will she have to hide behind a missile-proof wall What will the world be like in twenty thirty five Will we still be free or even be alive I don’t know what I will do Only know I want to spend each day I have with you Will we all ride starships somewhere through the sky Spend a weekend on the moon sometime before I die Will there be a cure for cancer, aids or bigotry Will they find a miracle to make the blind man see What will the world be like in twenty thirty five Will we still be free or even be alive I don’t know what I will do Only know I want to spend each day I have with you Season through season Your hand with mine I look at you, everything’s fine Everything is fine Times they keep on changing, I know you’ve heard it told Our values rearranging if not just outright sold But people stay the same at least it seems they do to me We all need love, we all want security What will the world be like in twenty thirty five Will we still be free or even be alive I don’t know what I will do Only know I want to spend each day I have with you

If 01:18
If If tomorrow comes and is today Today will then be yesterday And yesterday a distant dream Of promises and gallant schemes If tomorrow never makes it here For you or me or someone dear Then only will there be today To laugh and love, to hope and pray If tomorrow never makes it here There is nothing left to fear The troubles of today will be Enough for all eternity

about

The Acoustic Folk Art series is an acoustic instrumentation and vocal mix of original songs. I began going through my music in 2013 selecting tunes from around forty years of songwriting and started recording the guitar and vocal tracks. Then in the spring of 2015 I found a talented gentleman from Virginia who brought in great musicians and made my songs sound way better than anything I ever could have done on my own. There are 11 tracks on each of the 4 albums or 44 tracks in all consisting of 42 songs, 1 story featuring a tri-modal turtle and 1 guitar sonata. Because, let's face it, there's a shortage of guitar sonata's in the world! :-) The story and corresponding sonata are found on volume 2 of the AFA series.

My music is available through most major online venues, but Bandcamp will always be uniquely personal to me. Here you can listen to full versions of each track and find lyrics and credits for each individual song.

Each of the four digital albums have been carefully balanced and stand individually as their own musical journey. Listen to the cello as it dances with the violin or marvel at Guilherme's flute skills. There's a lot to discover. I am indebted to Rob Hatem for his illustrative talent in developing the album artwork. Rob once characterized the folk genre as straightforward simplicity with character. I hope that my songs approach that standard.

You can correspond with me by sending a note to mark@TokenTunes.com.

Enjoy and thanks for listening!
